Developed by a Funeral Director.
Mike Feeney wrote his first program on a Tandy RadioShack computer for his family's funeral home back in the 1970s. In the 80s, as personal computers started to become common, Mike began to search for more suitable software for the John Feeney Funeral Home. What he found was that existing software was prohibitively expensive and didn't really understand the needs of a funeral director! Not dismayed, Mike decided to create his own database using FileMaker Pro to quickly fill out his least favorite government forms. Before long, Mike had exactly the program he had been seeking, one that was designed around the way a funeral director does business!
In 1992 Mike decide to share his funeral home database with a few local funeral directors who were also frustrated by existing funeral software. Mike received numerous compliments for his funeral home database and was encouraged to demonstrate it at the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association convention. Spurred on by the praise and reputation his software was gaining, in 1994, Mike showcased the newly named "Funeral Data Manager" at the National Funeral Directors Association convention. What had begun as a simple database for his family's funeral home was now the software being recommended by funeral directors across the country! In the 20 years since, Funeral Data Manager has continued to provide funeral homes with innovative and affordable software that understands the unique needs of a funeral director. |
